Raise a Reader Results

MUS had 37 students to sign up for the Raise a Reader School Challenge, sponsored by Parents Magazine and the International Reading Association. Those 37 students clocked an average of 1,118 minutes (18.63 hours) each over a 12-week period.  The total minutes for all students was 41,357 (689.78 hours).  Thanks to everyone who took the time to report in!  We will know soon whether we won prizes, and as an added benefit, we now have an idea of how much time our students spend reading.  We'll be doing some research during the next year to see how to encourage more students to become avid readers.

Volunteer State Book Award

You can decide the next winner of the Tennessee Volunteer State Book Award. Click here to see a presentation of the nominees.  Once you have read 3 of the books, you are eligible to vote for your favorite.  It's never too soon to start reading for the 2010-2011 contest.
