Thank you for your interest in Memphis University School. Because we are not a boarding school, we enroll a small number of international students who must meet the following requirements.
- The student must have family or family friends in Memphis with whom he may live, and he will need transportation between school and home. MUS does not provide housing or transportation.
- He must be fluent in English. Our classes are very challenging and a strong knowledge of reading, writing, and speaking in English is needed.
- He and his family must have the ability to pay for all tuition, books, food, and any other school costs. MUS may only be able to provide limited financial assistance to international students.
- His grades and conduct must be excellent at his current school.
If he satisfies these requirements, print and complete the MUS Application from the MUS website. Mail the application, his grades from the last two years, and recommendations from a school official and two of his teachers to the MUS Admissions Office by December 10, 2011. All documents must be translated into English if they are in another language. You will be notified of an admissions decision by mid-February.
You must also send results from one of the following tests: Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE), Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT), Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT I), or American College Test (ACT). For non-native English speakers, results from either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or Secondary Level English Proficiency (SLEP) Test are required. MUS does not offer English as a Second Language (ESL) classes.
For questions regarding testing, contact the agencies listed below:
If the student is admitted to MUS, he and his family are responsible for making arrangements for visas, finances, transportation, and other relevant issues. All international students must have a valid passport and a valid visa issued by a U.S. consulate or embassy. The student must also have health insurance for the entire time he studies at MUS and provide documentation of required immunizations.
If further assistance is needed, contact the MUS Admissions Office.
